“The way to learn to do things is to do things. The way to learn a trade is to work at it. Success teaches how to succeed. Begin with the determination to succeed, and the work is half done already.” -Benjamin Franklin

Visa

Why I bought: Visa is the first stock I bought, and the stock that lured me into the stock market. I believe Visa is a great company with enourmous earnings potential. Millions of people have Visa cards, and Master Card stock was selling for about $250 /share. I thought Visa would easily reach that mark.

Lessons learned: Visa went up right after I bought it. But about 6 months later the economy and stock market collapsed and Visa went with it. Visa did hold up alot better than many stocks though.

Visa has many more shares outstanding than Master Card. The less outstanding shares, the more per share a stock is worth. That is something I did not think about when purchasing Visa.
